Who I Am And What You Can Find Here

I'm Olive. Let's start there.
I am a historian, I'm currently on my last semester of finishing up a Master's degree in History. Mostly though, I am a writer. I enjoy exploring all sides of a topic and honestly enjoy being wrong or taught something new.
I've always been someone with a lot on my mind—thoughts that come in like waves: unexpected, sometimes crashing, sometimes gentle, but always asking to be acknowledged. This space is my way of catching some of them before they drift away.
I'm not here to teach. I'm not here to convince. I'm here to think out loud—to make sense of my experiences, the world around me, the people I've loved, the systems we live within, and the quiet, in between moments that shape me.
Some days I might write about a relationship that left me confused. Other days, I might reflect on my health or something political, or cultural or even historical that I can't stop turning over in my head. I may talk about race, gender, queerness, identity, power. Or I might just talk about the weird, beautiful parts of being a person trying to make it through the dark with some kind of grace.
This isn't a blog with a five-step plan or a niche or a call to action (at least not always). It's just me—sharing whatever I'm holding, in hopes it resonates with someone else out there. So if you're here, welcome. Whether you stay for one post or many, I'm glad to have you in the room.
Let's think things through—together.
