coming home

i always see people talking about

how the beginning of a relationship

is the most exciting part of it all

and while it is exciting and feels new

i more so long for

what comes later

the being in the same space where

there's no stress of not fully being yourself

the laying together in the same room

silent

having a routine together

writing out a grocery list together

the quiet intertwining of each others lives

where it feels safe and comfortable

that's the most exciting part to me

so when i first start dating someone

yeah, i mean, i'm excited

but i really long for the knowing them

long for the feeling of home

coming home to them

that i can't wait for, most of all.
